2293848 A machine for inserting a geo-plastic beneath a track 21 The
invention relates to a machine for inserting a geoplastic beneath a track, comprising a machine frame designed to travel on the track and supporting supply rolls of the geoplastic, and an unrolling mechanism for supporting and unrolling one of the supply rolls around a roll shaft, as well as an oblique roll, positioned at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the machine and to the roll shaft and arranged beneath the track, for deflecting the geo-plastic into a direction extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine.
Such machines are already known through US Patents 4 397 241 and 4 250 812. As the machine advances, the geo-plastic in the form of a non-woven material, a woven material or the like is continuously drawn off the supply roll, located on the unrolling mechanism, at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the machine and after deflection through 90 0 around the oblique roll is finally laid on the formation in a direction extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine or track. Because of the relatively great width of the geo-plastic required for rehabilitating the formation, the mechanisms required for unrolling it have to be correspondingly large in size. This can lead to impairment of the trouble-free unrolling operation, and secondly also necessitates large installation spaces in which no other working units can be disposed.
The object of the present invention is now to provide a machine of the type previously defined with which simplified insertion of the geoplastic beneath the track is possible.
This is achieved according to the invention with the machine described in the introduction in that two oblique rolls are provided, each arranged in the region of one machine half with respect to a vertical plane located in the middle of the machine and extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine, a separate unrolling mechanism being associated with each oblique roll.
With the arrangement of two oblique rolls, each associated with one machine half, two supply rolls can be unrolled in parallel, advantageously enabling the width of the geo-plastic with respect to the overall width required for the formation rehabilitation essentially to be halved. The whole handling procedure, beginning with the transport of the shorter and therefore also lighter supply rolls and ending with the unrolling and laying of the plastic webs on the track formation, is thus considerably simplified. In addition, the installation in a machine performing other operations for rehabilitating the formation in parallel with the insertion of a geo-plastic is also simplified, since the space required for installation and for unrolling can be considerably reduced. In order to achieve a durable seal also in the butting region of the two plastic webs laid on the formation and lying side by side in the transverse direction of the track, an overlapping arrangement of the two webs in the region of the track axis is expedient.
Other advantageous developments of the invention emerge from the subclaims.
The invention is described in more detail in the following with the aid of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows a side view of a machine for formation rehabilitation which is designed to travel on a track, comprising an unrolling mechanism for supporting and -xunrolling a geo-plastic, Fig. 2 shows an enlarged view of the unrolling mechanism in the longitudinal direction of the machine, and Fig. 3 shows an enlarged plan view of the unrolling mechanism.
A machine I shown in Fig. I has a machine frame 3 supported on on-track undercarriages 2, with which machine frame there are associated an excavating chain 4 for picking up ballast 5 of a track 6 which is to be cleaned and a screening unit 7 for cleaning the picked-up ballast. A depositing conveyor belt 8 which may be swivelled in the horizontal plane is provided for discharging the cleaned ballast onto the track 6. The track 6 can be lifted in the region of a ballastless renewal gap 10 with the aid of two vertically adjustable track lifting devices 9. The machine 1 is designed to travel under the power of a motive drive 11 in the working direction shown by an arrow 12. The power is supplied by means of a central power plant 13.
Various working units for stabilizing and rehabilitating a formation 14 are provided in the region of the ballastless renewal gap 10. The said working units essentially comprise a scarifying and mixing unit 15,16 and an unrolling mechanism 17. The latter serves to unroll a geo-plastic 18 from a supply roll 19. Geo-plastic, also referred to as geo-textile, should be taken as a collective term for different types of materials, such as non-woven materials, meshed products, woven materials, sealing webs and the like and serves as a separation layer between the ballast superstructure and the railway substructure. A special formation protection layer is prepared using the preceding scarifying and mixing unit 15,16, with various added substances, such as cement and/or lime, being supplied to it. The prepared formation protection layer 20 is graded and consolidated using consolidating units which are not shown specifically.
As Fig. 2 and 3 show, a separate unrolling mechanism 17 is provided on each machine half 21. 22 designates a vertical plane located in the middle of the machine and extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine, separating the two machine halves 21 from one another.
Each unrolling mechanism 17 secured to the underside of the machine frame 3 has two supporting frames 23 spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the machine the lower ends of which serve to support a longitudinal roll 24 with an axis 25 extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine and horizontally.
11 As may be seen in Fig. 3 particularly, a total of two oblique rolls 26 are provided, extending horizontally and at an angle a of 45 0 in relation to the aforementioned vertical plane 22. The two oblique rolls 26 are arranged spaced apart from one another with respect to the vertical (or one above the other) and have a crossing point 27 located in the vertical plane 22 and defined by a common vertical. The two ends 40 of the oblique rolls 26 which are less far apart in the transverse direction of the machine are positioned partially in the respectively adjoining machine half 21 so as to form an overlap region a of the geo- plastic webs.
Each supporting frame 23 is formed from two parts 28,29 which may be spaced apart from one another in the vertical direction and may be inserted telescopically into one another. Each of these parts has a plurality of drilled holes 30 spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the parts 28 and 29 for running a cotter pin 31 through. Another part 32 of the supporting frame 23 which is arranged at right angles to the aforementioned vertical plane 22 is mounted so as to be displaceable in a guide 33 connected to the machine frame 3 at right angles to the vertical.plane 22. Drilled holes 30 and cotter pins 31 are similarly provided to inhibit the displacement. The two supply rolls 19 provided for unrolling are arranged within the supporting frames 23, which are spaced apart in the transverse direction of the machine, and underneath the machine frame 3. Two supporting arms 35, spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the machine, are provided to support and secure a respective roll shaft 34 of the supply roll 19 to be unrolled, the said roll shaft serving for rolling up the geo-plastic. Each supporting arm 35 is fixed at one end to the machine frame 3 so as to be pivotable about a vertical axis 36, while the end 37 opposite the axis 36 is in each case connected to a holding device 38 for supporting and releasably securing the roll shaft 34.
In order to support further supply rolls 19, two supporting bars 39, spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the machine and extending at right angles to the vertical plane 22 and horizontally, are connected to the machine frame 3 between the two mutually spaced unrolling mechanisms 17 in the transverse direction of the machine. These supporting bars 39 serve to support and carry the roll shafts 34.
The two ends 40 of the two oblique rolls 26 arranged at a smaller distance apart in the transverse direction of the machine are detachably secured to a supporting rod 41 extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the machine, arranged beneath the track 6 and connected to the mutually opposite supporting frames 23. The telescopically extendable supporting rod 41 itself is similarly detachably secured to the two supporting frames 23.
The axes 25 of the longitudinal rolls 24 are arranged so as to extend parallel to the roll shafts 34 of the supply roll 19 mounted on the unrolling mechanism 17, in the longitudinal direction of the machine, and horizontally. The two oblique t-k- rolls 26 are arranged at an angle 13 of 900 to one another. The expression "horizontal" used in connection with this machine description relates to the position in which the machine frame 3 or the wheel contact points of the on-track undercarriages 2 are located in a horizontal plane.
As the machine 1 continuously advances operationally, preparation of the topmost layer of the formation 14 takes place in parallel with the cleaning of the ballast 5 of the ballast bed. Immediately adjoining the graded and consolidated formation 14, the two geo-plastic webs are continuously inserted and laid. These webs are drawn from the respective supply roll 19 located in each machine half 21 over the associated longitudinal roll 24 at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the machine under the track 6 towards the middle of the machine and are deflected by means of the corresponding oblique roll 26 into the longitudinal direction of the track. Since, as is shown in Fig. 2 particularly, the right-hand web of the geo-plastic 18 is located higher than the left-hand web, a perfect overlap (a) can be produced in the middle region of the track. In the event that in a track superelevation (left rail in Fig. 2 situated higher than the right rail) a reverse overlap (righthand web underneath the left-hand web) is required, the supporting rod 41 is turned through 1800 at right angles to the vertical plane 22 with the connection to the two supporting frames 23 and the two oblique rolls 26 disconnected. As a result the oblique roll 26 which was originally in a higher position is now lower than the other oblique roll 26.
Claims (11)
1. A machine for inserting a geo-plastic beneath a track, comprising a machine frame designed to travel on the track and supporting supply rolls of the geo-plastic, and an unrolling mechanism for supporting and unrolling one of the supply rolls around a roll shaft, as well as an oblique roll, positioned at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the machine and to the roll shaft and arranged beneath the track, for deflecting the geoplastic into a direction extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine, characterized by two oblique rolls, each arranged in the region of one machine half with respect to a vertical plane located in the middle of the machine and extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine, a separate unrolling mechanism being associated with each oblique roll.

A machine according to claim 1, characterized in that the two oblique rolls, spaced apart from one another with respect to the vertical, have a crossing point located in the vertical plane and defined by a common vertical, each oblique roll being positioned partially in the respectively adjoining machine half so as to form an overlap region of the geo-plastic webs.

A machine according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized by two unrolling mechanisms, spaced apart from one another in the transverse direction of the machine and secured to the underside of the machine frame, each of which is connected by a vertically adjustable supporting frame to a longitudinal roll - which has an axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine.

A machine according to claim 3, characterized in that the supporting frame is formed from two parts, which 9 can be spaced apart in the vertical direction and which have a plurality of drilled holes spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the parts for running a cotter pin through.

A machine according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that a part of the supporting frame which is arranged at right angles to the aforementioned vertical plane is mounted so as to be displaceable in a guide connected to the machine frame at right angles to the vertical plane and may be locked in various displacement positions with the guide.
6. A machine according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the supply rolls are arranged within the supporting frames, which are spaced apart from one another in the transverse direction of the machine, and underneath the machine frame.

A machine according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the unrolling mechanism has two supporting arms spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the machine and each secured to the machine frame so as to be pivotable about a vertical axis, of which the end opposite the axis is in each case connected to a holding device for supporting and securing a roll shaft serving for rolling up the geoplastic.

A machine according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that two supporting bars, spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the machine, extending at right angles to the vertical plane and connected to the machine frame, are provided between the two unrolling mechanisms in the transverse direction of the machine, for supporting and carrying roll shafts of a number of supply rolls.

A machine according to one of claims I to 8, characterized in that the ends of the two oblique rolls which are closer together in the transverse direction of the machine are detachably secured to a supporting rod extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the machine, arranged beneath the track and detachably connected to the mutually opposite supporting frames.

A machine according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the axes of the longitudinal rolls are arranged so as to extend parallel to the roll shafts of the supply rolls mounted on the unrolling mechanisms, in the longitudinal direction of the machine and in that symmetrically in relation to the vertical plane extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine - the two oblique rolls form an angle of 900 to one another.
11. A machine for inserting a geo-plastic beneath a track, substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
