Abstract

Lid device intended for use with pots for consumable food comprises a compartment (10) forming a container intended to contain an ingredient incorporable with the contents of the pot (2) to which said lid (1) is secured. The opening (11) of the compartment (10) is peripherally bordered by a rim (12) allowing the fastening of a heat sealed protective cover (3), the rim (12) being extended towards the base by a skirt (13) whose lower extremity internally comprises means (14) which in association with complementary means (20) disposed externally on the upper edge (21) of the pot (2) allow its joining to the pot (2), the height of the compartment (10) being less than the height of the skirt (13). <IMAGE>

Description

A LID DEVICE FOR SUCH PACKAGING AS POTS FOR CONSUMABLE FOODS TO BE MIXED WITH AT LEAST ONE INGREDIENT The object of the present invention is a lid device intended for such packaging as pots for consumable foods, particularly for dairy products such as fromage blancs or similar.

Fromage blancs and similar dairy products are generally packaged in plastic pots, closed by means of a lid or a heat sealed protective cover and are often eaten mixed with at least one ingredient such as a jam, compote, fruit coulis, crime fraiche or another.

These products not always being at the disposal of the consumer, pots have been suggested containing one of the said ingredients with the fromage blanc or similar, either mixed or not therewith.

This form of presentation, however, may have disadvantages either in the length of preservation or an unsatisfactory mixture for the consumer.

The goal of the present invention is to remedy these disadvantages in providing a lid device intended for such packaging as pots for consumable foods to be mixed with at least one ingredient.

The lid device, the object of the present invention, comprises a compartment forming container intended to contain an ingredient incorporable with the contents of the pot upon which said lid is fastened and is essentially characterised in that the opening of said compartment is peripherally bordered by a rim allowing the fastening of a heat sealed protective cover, which rim being intended toward the base by a skirt whose lower extremity comprises means allowing of its joining to the rim of the pot, the height of the said compartment being less than the height of the said skirt.

The means ofjoining of the lid to the pot may consist of at least an internal peripheral rib disposed on the said skirt and intended to cooperate with an external peripheral rib disposed on the rim of the said pot.

The pot is preferably an individual pot and the quantity of ingredient contained in the lid container is slightly more than that used on average by consumers with a view to allowing each to create a suitable mixture.

To create the mixture the consumer opens the pot by lifting up the lid then removing the protective cover of said lid and taking from the compartment the quantity of ingredient desired to be mixed with the contents of the pot.

The advantages and characteristics of the present invention will be appreciated more clearly from the description which follows and which refers to the annexed drawings, which represent a non-limiting embodiment.

In the annexed drawings: - Figure 1 represents an exploded perspective view of a lid device according to the invention, - Figure 2 represents a sectional view along a vertical medial plane of the same device.

If Figure 1 is referred to, a lid device 1 according to the invention will be seen adapted to a pot 2 intended to hold fromage blanc or similar, for example a curd cheese.

Off Figure 2 is also referred to, the lid 1 will be seen to comprise a compartment 10 forming container whose opening 11 is externally bordered by a horizontal rim 12 extended downwardly by a skirt 13 widening out somewhat with respect to the wall 15 of the container 10 whose height is less than that of the skirt 13 in order that its base 16 will not come into contact with the contents of the pot 2.

The lower extremity of the skirt 13 comprises joining means for engaging over the pot 2, in this case an internal peripheral rib 14 visible in Figure 2 which cooperates with an external peripheral rib 20 disposed on the rim 21 of the pot 2.

The container 10, intended to contain an ingredient incorporable with the contents of pot 2, is sealable by a protective cover 3 which is made integral therewith by heat sealing of its edge 30 onto the horizontal rim 12 and which may be pulled off at the moment of use by means of a tongue 31 integral with its edge 30.

Claims

1. Lid device intended for such packaging as pots for consumable foods to be mixed with at least one ingredient comprising a compartment (10) forming container intended to contain an ingredient incorporable with the contents of the pot (2) upon which said lid (1) is secured, characterised in that the opening (11) of the compartment (10) is peripherally bordered by a rim (12) allowing the fastening of a heat sealed protective cover (3) and in that said rim (12) is extended toward the base by a skirt (13) whose lowermost edge internally comprises means (14) which, in association with complementary means (20) disposed externally on the upper edge (21) of the pot (2), allow its joining to said pot (2), the height of said compartment (10) being less than the height of the skirt (13) of said lid (1).

2. Device according to claim 1 characterised in that the means ofjoining of the lid (1) to the pot (2) comprise at least an internal peripheral rib (14) disposed on the internal face of the skirt (13) of the lid (1) and an external peripheral rib (20) disposed on the edge (21) of the pot (2).
