Abstract
An edging strip includes a strip body (1) and a cover band (2). The strip body (1) can be inserted into the recessed edge of the plastic panel (3) to seal the plastic panel. The cover band (2) is then attached to the strip body (1) to provide a neat edge to the plastic panel (3), which may be a partition panel, or a door. <IMAGE>
Description
PARTING STRIP
This invention relates to a strip, more particularly, to a plastic parting strip which can be attached to the side of the parting plate to reiflforce the strength of the parting plate while sealing the edge of the parting plate.
The plastic parting plate has been widely used in partition, making cabinet, acting as a screen panel or table. Because the parting plate has a hollow configuration, the naked edging of the parting plate will decrease the authentic appearance. On the other hand, the naked edge is easy to accumulate the dirt or easy to become a germ carrier. Accordingly, the naked edge is attached and sealed with a plastic strip to prevent the dirt and germ accumulated thereof.
In general, the strip used to seal the naked edge of the plastic plate can be classif iQ* into the following two types. The first one is the H- or N-shape strip. The H- or M-shape has two extended walls which can inserted into the naked edge of the plastic plate, as the glue is applied to the extended walls, the H- or
M-shape parting plate can fixed firmly one the edge of the plastic plate and seal it accordingly.
But the H- or M-shape strip is made from plastic which is a soft material and easy to deform as an external force applied. On the other hand, the surface of the plastic plate has been polished to have a shiny effect, accordingly, the engagement between the strip and the naked plate become weak after a period of time.
The second type of the parting strip used to seal the edge of the plastic plate has an embossed insert. The embossed insert can be attached into the naked edge of the plastic plate. In attaching, the glue is applied to enhance the engagement between the strip and the plastic plate. The insert really provides a reinforced strength and a sound sealing effect. But when the plastic plate is used to make a door and the parting strip with an embossed insert is attached to the naked edge, it raises a problem in installing the faceplate of a door lock and linkage of the screen panel. On the other hand, the embossed insert can be suitable covered by decorations. The flatness of the plastic plate can not be reserved.
It would be desirable to be able to provide a plastic parting strip having a strip body and a cover band. The strip body includes a wider portion which has the same thickness of the plastic plate and a narrow portion which can be inserted into the naked edge of the plastic plate. A wooden block and a steel upright can be incorporated into the strip body to reinforce the strength of the parting strip. The strip body acts as an ideal and perfect sealing strip both in door plate, screen panel and the table. By the provision of the cover band, an integrity of the door or the screen panel is reserved.
An embodiment of the present invention will be described by way example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
The structural and operational characteristics of the present invention and its advantages as compared to the known state of the prior art will be better understood from the following description, in conjunction with the attached drawings which show illustratively but not restrictively an example of a plastic parting strip. In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the plastic parting strip made according to this invention;
Figure 2 is a cross sectional view of the parting strip incorporated with a steel upright;
Figure 3 is a cross sectional view of the parting strip incorporated with a wooden block;
Figure 4 is a perspective view of a screen panel incorporated with a plastic parting strip made according to this invention;
Figure 5 is a perspective view of a screen panel connected table incorporated with a plastic parting strip made according to this invention;
Figure 6 is still a perspective view of a door plate incorporated with a plastic strip installed with a faceplate of a door lock; and
Figure 7 is a second embodiment of the cover band made according to this invention.
Figure 8 is another embodiment made according to this invention.
Referring to Figure 1, the plastic parting strip made according to this invention generally includes a strip body 1 and a cover band 2.
The strip body 1 has an embossed bar configuration 11 having a rectangular cross section.
The strip body 1 has an enclosed chamber 111. The strip body 1 further has a wider portion which has the same thickness of the door plate and a narrow portion which can be received by the hollow portion of the parting chamber 31 of the plastic plate 3. The wider portion of the parting strip 1 has two parallel clipping plates 12 which has a hook 123 the tip of the clipping plate 12.
The cover band 2 can be attached to the parting strip 1 through the engagement of the clipping plates 12.
The cover band 2 has a rail configuration with a M cross section. A hook 21 is provided at the free end of said cover band 2 which can engage with the clipping plate 12 of the strip body 1 to enclose the strip body 1.
As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the parting strip can be applied to different application. The enclosed chamber 111 of the embossed bar configuration 11 is incorporated with a steel upright 4 and a wooden block 5, as shown in Figure 4 and 5 respectively. The narrow portion of the bar configuration 11 can be received by the parting chamber 31 of the plastic plate 3. By this arrangement, the strength of the parting strip is reinforced to sustain more loads. When the strip body 1 is installed completely, the cover band 2 can be attached to the strip body 1 by the engagement between the hooking plate 123 and the hook 21. Accordingly, the parting strip is completely installed.
As shown in Figure 4, a plurality of plastic plates 3 are interconnected to form a screen panel.
Each of the plastic plates is incorporated with a plastic plate strip. In manufacturing, the embossed bar configuration 1 is cut to a certain length. The length of the accessories 6 disposed at the distal end and the linking portion is cut off. The strip body' 1 is attached to the plastic plate 3 first, then the accessories 6 is fixed. After the accessories 6 is attached, the cover band 2 is attached to the strip body 1.
As shown in Figure 5, the plastic plate 3 is used to make a table which is bridged between two adjacent screen panels. A accessories 6' is incorporated at a suitable height of the screen panel.
The upper and lower portion of the accessory 6' are attached to the bar configuration 11 of the strip body 1 incorporated to the plastic plate 3. When the accessory 6' is completely installed, the cover band 2 is attached to the strip body 1 and the accessory 6'.
Besides, as shown in Figure 6, the plastic plate 3 is used to make a door plate. The strip body 1 shall provide a space for installing the faceplate 7 of the door lock. Both ends 71 of the faceplate 7 can be inserted into the bar configuration 11. As a result, a perfect integrity of the door is ensured.
As shown in Figure 7, the cover band 2' can be made with various patterns but it can be attached to the clipping plate 12 of the strip body 1. Accordingly, the cover band 2' provides a decorating effect.
As shown in figure 8, the space between the body strip 1 and the clipping plate 12 can be incorporated with a conduit for installing of various cables or wires. And this conduit can be covered by the band cover 2. on the other hand, the cables or wires 8 can also pass through the embossed bar configuration 11 of the body strip 1 and deep into the chamber of the plastic plate 3. When the cables or wires reach the predetermined position, it can pass through the wall of the plate 1. By this arrangement, it really provides a complete and integral appearance to the plastic plate.
