Abstract
A dog feeding or drinking bowl (1) comprises a vertical arm (3) on which the bowl (1) can be supported at an adjustable height. The bowl (1) has a downwardly sloping rail (6) which fits into any one of a plurality of obliquely arranged grooves (7) provided at regular intervals along the arm. <IMAGE>
Description
APPARATUS FROM WHICH A DOG CAN FEED OR DRINK
The subject-matter of this invention is an apparatus from which a dog can feed or drink and which comprises at least one feeding or drinking bowl and at least one essentially vertical arm for carrying the bowl, on which arm the bowl can be fitted such that it can be adjusted in height.
It has been established that, in a dog, the front part of the body and the neck develop much better if the dog does not feed out of a feeding bowl lying at ground level, but from a support located at a higher level. The feeding bowl should be located as high as is possible without hindering feeding. Since puppies grow and develop rapidly, it is necessary to set the feeding bowl at a higher level repeatedly.
Patent Specification US 3 661 121 describes a feeding bowl which is to be fitted on a vertical arm. The arm is configured in the form of a slide rail, it being possible to fit the bowl at a desired height by bracing it on the arm at this level by means of wing nuts. In
Figure 14 of Patent Specification US 4 976 223, a support for the feeding bowl is, in turn, placed between two arms. Bores are made in the arms at regular intervals, it being possible to fit the support at a desired height by plugging a spring-loaded pin, provided in the support, into the desired bore. These known solutions have the disadvantage that fitting the bowl on the arm is complicated and takes up a lot of time.
The purpose of this invention is to provide a solution which is of a simpler design and, in particular, is easier to handle than the known solutions. The apparatus, according to the invention, from which a dog can feed or drink is, according to the accompanying claim, characterized in that there is provided, on one side of the bowl, at least one rail/groove which is directed away from the bowl and slopes down with respect to the horizontal plane of the bowl, and there are provided, at regular intervals in the ann, groove/rails which are warranted obliquely corresponding to the rail/groove provided on the side of the bowl, into/onto which the rail/groove provided on the side of the bowl is pushed, and out of/from which the rail/groove provided on the side of the bowl can be pulled.
By means of an apparatus according to the invention, the bowl can be set at a desired height very simply and rapidly, with the result that the dog, as explained above, always feeds or drinks from the correct height.
The invention is illustrated hereinbelow by example, reference being made to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 shows a bowl arrangement according to the
invention,
Figure 2 shows a cross-section of the arm at the point
A-A, and
Figure 3 shows a cross-section of the arm at the point
B-B.
Figure 1 shows an arrangement, according to the invention, from which a dog can feed and in which the feeding bowl 1 can be raised as high as possible, but such that the dog can still feed normally. Provided on one side of the feeding bowl 1 is a fastening part 2 for fitting the feeding bowl on a vertical carrying arm 3 which is located on the wall and the height of which is, for example, approximately 1 m.
According to Figures 2 and 3, the arm 3 is crosssectionally U-shaped, to be precise such that it exhibits cross-sectionally virtually triangular member parts 4, narrowing towards the bowl 1, and a base 5.
The fastening part 2 for the bowl 1 is, in the vertical direction, in the form of a plate and of such a thickness that it can be fitted into the arm 3. Rails 6, which are directed away from the bowl 1 and slope down, are provided on both outer sides of the fastening part 2.
Formed, corresponding to the rails 6, at regular intervals in the inner sides of the limbs 4 of the arm 3 and running in the direction of the rails 6 are grooves 7 into which the rails 6 of the fastening part 2 can be pushed at a desired height. Correspondingly, the bowl 1 can be removed from the arm 3 by pulling the fastening part 2 out of the grooves 7. Moreover, bores 8 for screws, by means of which the arm is fastened on the wall, are made in the arm at the top and bottom ends.
It is evident to a specialist in the field that the various embodiments of the invention are not restricted to the above example, but may be varied within the context of the following claim.
Claims (2)
1. Apparatus from which a dog can feed or drink and which comprises at least one feeding or drinking bowl and at least one essentially vertical arm for carrying the bowl, on which arm the bowl can be fitted such that it can be adjusted in height, characterized in that there is provided, on one side of the bowl, at least one rail/groove which is directed away from the bowl and slopes down with respect to the horizontal plane of the bowl, and there are provided, at regular intervals in the arm, groovetrails which are arranged obliquely corresponding to the rail/groove provided on the side of the bowl, into/onto which the rail/groove provided on the side of the bowl is pushed, and out of/from which the railigroove provided on the side of the bowl can be pulled.
2. Apparatus from which a dog can feed or drink substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
