Abstract
An air gun pellet is contained within a cartridge. The pellet-containing cartridges are fed to the gun through a repeating mechanism and the empty cartridges are ejected after firing. The cartridges may be re-used. <IMAGE>
Description
AIR GUN PELLET CONTAINED
CARTRIDGE SYSTEM
The air gun pellet contained cartridge is a small brass cartridge boned out to the dia of a pellet ie .181 for a .177 or .225 for a .22 pellet with a slight chamfer for the pellet to seal. Most hard materials can be used to turn this cartridge. I have used brass, the cartridge to all intensive purposes looks like a ordinary live round, but of course has no bullet, primer con, or powder and can in no way be fired like a live round con.
The cartridge has a counter bore of which a '0' ring sits to seal the compressed air, and house the bolt face from the air weapon, the benefit of useing this system is that the pellets can be loaded into the cartridges and the cartridges fed through a repeating system with out jamming up, when fired they are ejected like a live cartridge round would be.
This system allow's a air weapon to repeat shot after shot when loaded with these cartridges and of course eject.
The cartridges can be used again and again and again.
Basically this system allow's pellets to be fed through a repeating mechanism without jamming up ect.
The only other repeating air gun's I know of, have rotary magazines, which hold the pellets, or tube's which also hold the pellets. There is also a cartridge that contains compressed air, a valve, fireing pin and pellet, everything needed when charged to fire the pellet from the cartridge, my design does not contain a valve fireing pin or compressed air and is completely inert even with a pellet loaded it can only be fired in the air weapon it was made for.
Claims (2)
1. A air gun pellet contained cartridge comprising of a
machined cartridge case with a outer internal rim to
enable extraction and ejection from the air weapons
mechanism, the sole purpose of the pellet contained
cartridge is to act as a carrier for air gun pellets
held internally in the bore of the cartridge and held
securely by a 'o ring' which acts also to make a air
tight seal with the air weapons mechanism. The
'o ring' is held in a counter bore at the loading end
of the cartridge also the rim end.
2. This method of holding a air gun pellet in a
cartridge as explained in Claim 1 lends itself to
being fed through all forms of magazines rotary,
stick, box and than into and out of the air weapons
mechanism. Like a conventional live round, without
the jamming that results from feeding small soft lead
pellets on there own. The air gun pellet contained
cartridge is just a vehicle for conveying the lead
air gun pellet through the air weapons repeating
mechanisms, these cartridges can be used time and
time again they are reusable.
