Abstract

The handbrake of a motor vehicle is fitted with a switch which can stop and start the vehicle engine each time the handbrake is applied and released respectively. By keeping the thumb on the handbrake release button the handbrake can be applied without stopping the engine.

Description

SPECIFICATION Handbrake ignition stop start switch Part 1 This invention Handbrake ignition stop start switch which is built into the handbrake of any motor vehicle more of a novelty to drive as the engine can be started and stopped by releaseing and applying the handbrake.
This switch being of plastic resin moulded into the handle part of anny handbrake by after a slight alteration of the handbrake mechanism has to have a modified button with a brass rod fixed to one end and a key button at other with a small drag hole for the push off wire that is fixed to the handbrake ratchet in between it and the button there if a plastic body containing the battery, ignition, solenoid contact points which are bridged by the sliding of the brass rod joined to the button Part2 There is a plastic block joined to the handbrake mechanism and a sliding fitforthe brass rod which acts as an ignition brake to earth.
To drive a motor vehicle fitted with this switch engage first gear make sure handrake is on check all is clear depress clutch and release handbrake drive normal to stop engine pull on handbrake by keeping thumb on button handbrake can be applied without engine stopping to stop engine release handbrake and pull on again letting button be pushed out by the drag wire fixed to the handbrake ratchett.
The advantages of the handbrake ignition stop start switch as claimed in Part 1. is realised by use.
This switch has been discribed substantially and illustrated in the accompaying drawings.
Dated this 21st day of July 1982 Colin Reginald Selley.
1. The method of this invention is built into the handbrake of any motor vehicle and is very easy to use it cuts out a movement.
Plans 1/2 show how the switch is made up.
Plans 2/2 show the working order when used. The button 3 can be pulled out against the drag wire 31.
Resistance. But the spring of push rod 17. To rachett.
Is stronger than drag so pushing or pulling for solenoid orwhen handbrake is released. If engine is running with handbrake on. Driver only has to depress button a little enough to push rod 17. clear of ratchett to release. Unless driver keeps thumb on button when pulling on handbrake engine will stop.
This action is motervated by the drag wire 31. into drag hole 25 in main button 3.
2. The material used to make this switch is of plastic fibre for mass production, but there are other way's the sort of thing can be accomplissed the switch can be made outside the handbrake. Also in a different place at the bass of the handbrake, and also made of wood or rubber. Ther are also brass parts made from 3/16" rod.
3. Used in the key button 2, and for brass ignition rod 6, brass feet 10 which has the feed 24, and ignition 23, wires soldered to them. Also there is the solenoid brass ring 8A whitch also has solenoid wire 22, soldered to it, whitch is fixed to ignition block 4, with a bigger hole so not to come in contact with brass ignition rod 6. Ther is a screwed contact on 6, at the button for contact. There are small springs used to keep brass feet against 6, with stop caps 12, to insolate the current from the springs 11, against handbrake 13. The other material is a sring metal, or tension wire used for the drag wire 31, which is fixed by 33A to ratchett 33, which passes though 1 sliding holes in block 4 the other sliding holes are for 6, 10, 11. There is also a sliding hole 19, in blockS, for 6, which insolated ignition to earth or negative though push rod 17, while being used. The supply can be direct or from feed to coil if this is the case the ignition key becomes the master key.
All wires 22, 23, 24, are set in making block 4.
4. The advantages of this switch are 1. Saves petrol in urban driving.
2. No air pollution while stoped, at iights.
3. Saves Accidents.
4. Learning another driver.
5. A must for the delivery driver.
6. Very sporty.
7. A natural and relaxing way to drive.
8. Saves transmission wear.
