Abstract

210,794. Kulikoff, A. Feb. 1, 1923, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Photographic recorders. - Sound &c. vibrations are recorded on a continuously moving sensitized film by means of a beam of light which, oscillating in accordance with the vibrations to be recorded, moves in the plane of the longitudinal axis of the film. Thus the beam moves alternately in the direction of movement of the film and oppositely thereto. In the apparatus shown, the image of an illuminated slit b is reflected on to a moving film k from a concave or plane mirrom d, which is connected to a diaphragm e, mounted in a sound-funnel f. The light, acting on the film in the manner described above. produces a record which appears on the developed' film as a series of lines of varying intensity. The mirror may be vibrated electromagnetically, a thermionic or other amplifier being employed.. Lenses may be arranged in the path of the light rays, and instead of a mirror, one or more reflecting prisms may be used. The method described is stated to be also applicable for recording the vibrations of " machines for biological researches," or for other purposes.
