Abstract

214,316. Jackson, G. J. Jan. 16, 1923. Pistons; balancing laterally.-The head 1 of the piston of an internal-combustion engine is formed separate from a split skirt 5 and is secured to the skirt by the gudgeonpin 4 or by the gudgeon-pin bushes 11, which pass through aligned perforations in the skirt and in a cylindrical extension or lugs 2 on the head. The skirt may be expanded at each end by an internal spring ring in a groove 10. The head and the skirt may be of different materials.
