Abstract
202,416. V.L. Oil Processes, Ltd., (formerly V.M.L. Experimental, Ltd.)., Lucas, O. D., and Johnson, F. G. L. May 19, 1922. Gun cartridges.- Relates to electric primers or vent sealing tubes of the kind in which the fuze wire is extended across the face of a block and the free ends of the fuze wire are disposed upon the outer surface of the block which is pressed into the body of the primer. According to the invention, the block B, Fig. 1, is conical in shape and is pressed into a conical sea in the primer body A from the front end thereof. The ends of the fuze wire C are gripped in a groove in the block by means of an encircling wire C<1>. The middle of the wire is connected to a conductor C<2> in contact with a plug D which is also pressed against another conductor E<1> leading to an insulated contact piece E in the base of the primer; or the plug D presses directly against the base contactpiece. In the above construction, the block B is of insulating material. Tn other modifications, a single central insulated conductor E<1>, Fig. 4, connected to the middle of the fuze wire C leads directly out of the prirner, as shown, cr directly to a base contact-piece; and the free ends of the fuze wire are clinched in radial grooves in an annular tin block B<1> pressed against the face of the insulating block B.
