Abstract

A velveteen is woven from an extensible warp comprising an alternation of elastomeric covered yarns and textured yarns, and pile is obtained by cutting floats of pile- forming weft yarns, the pile-forming weft yarns being separated by zones of ground forming weft yarns which are bound to the warp to form the ground, wherein the beaming repeat is a sub-multiple of the weave repeat in the warp, and the pile-forming weft yarns are bound between the floats to the warp yarns over widths of at least three warp yarns.
