Abstract

In a hand gun a slidable magazine 6 holding the rounds 8 to be fired is made part of the firing mechanism and movement of the trigger 12 serves both to align a bullet with the barrel 4 and fire it in a single squeeze. This is achieved by having the trigger linked by a lever 20 to the magazine to move the magazine, when the trigger is squeezed, to bring a bullet into a firing position in line with the barrel. The magazine has a series of racks 28 which upon movement of the magazine engage a pinion 30 connected to a spring biased hammer 32. The hammer is first cocked against the action of the spring then released to fire the bullet in the firing position. <IMAGE>
