Abstract

An absorbent pad particularly for use as a babies' nappy or an incontinence pad, the pad including at least one layer of material having means such as folds, pleats or crinkles to promote the passage of moisture along the pad in one direction preferentially to another direction transverse to the first direction. The pad may include several of such layers arranged so as to spread moisture, applied to the pad, throughout the whole area of the pad.
