Abstract

A portable container for the storage, and issuance of individual sheets from a stack. Sheets are loaded as a loose, vertically oriented stack 40 within a container 20 between a follower 22 and a separator belt 54 and resting on a pair of spaced guide rails 52. The separator belt separates the endmost sheet in the stack from those adjacent thereto, to remove it edgeways from the stack and deliver it through a feed slot 76. To prevent the feeding of two or more sheets at a time a restraint belt 62 between the guide rails 52 forms a throat with the separator belt and applies a restraint to the sheets in the opposite direction. Skew control guides 212 in the container engage the upper sides of the sheets in the stack over the location where the sheets are not supported by the guide rails and are only supported centrally from below. <IMAGE>
