Abstract

Thermoplastics materials for containers for growing seedlings which are biodegradable in natural environments to innocuous materials comprise a graft copolymer melt processable at less than 150 DEG C consisting essentially of a natural polymer base having grafted thereon carbon-carbon chains resulting from the polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, the weight ratio of the natural polymer base to graft chains ranging from 1:4 to 4.1, the graft copolymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of greater than 30 DEG C.
