Abstract

The Specification describes a rotary airlock for controlling the flow of particulate or powdered material wherein either the rotor or the stator is chamfered or tapered to reduce the area of contact between the rotor and stator, thereby reducing the wear occurring on the faces of these parts due to material being trapped therebetween. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the hub 10 of the rotor is chamfered at 36. In alternative embodiments, Figs. 4 and 5, the rotor blade supports 18 have tapered ends 33. <IMAGE>
