Abstract

Printing apparatus is provided for use in dyeing carpet yarn and has a print roller disposed for engaging a warp sheet. The roller comprises a plurality of printing elements (34) having print heads (44) which define the surface of the roller. Each head (44) is resiliently mounted for radial movement relative to the axis of the roller and is rigidly connected to a respective follower (54). Each follower (54) cooperates with a guide track (52), presented by a respective control member (36) so as to hold the associated head in a raised print position or not in dependence upon sequential radial movements of the head (44). <IMAGE>
