Abstract

A sole tread is made from a resiliently compressible material such as rubber or a synthetic polymer and is provided with a plurality of spaced apart ridges 13 which have channels 11 therethrough so as to provide substantially closed air chambers which improve the comfort and adherence of the sole. The ridges are preferably evenly spaced apart in parallel relationship, typically across the width of the sole. <IMAGE>
