Abstract

208,641. Jackson, W. J. Mellersh-, (Gordan Machine Co.). Dec. 19, 1922. Apparatus for granular materials and small goods, with several chambers, comprises an inclined cylindrical hopper 75 having rotatably mounted in its base a disc 77 in which are arranged open-ended measuring-chambers 78 formed by tubes pressed by springs 91 against the base of the hopper. A shoot 81 communicates with the lower side of the hopper, the inlet 82 being variable to suit the angle of repose of the material, and as the disc 77 is rotated by a shaft 70 driven slowly through a countershaft 73 from a worm-wheel 71, each measuring-chamber is adapted to come under and be filled from the loose bank of material 80. A brush 83 rotating in a bearing 86 on the hopper and driven by a gear-wheel 88 on the shaft 70 wipes off any material projecting above the mouth of the measuring - chamber and returns it to the bank 80. At the upper side of the hopper the measuring chambers are arranged to register successively with a delivery port 79. The apparatus may be used in conjunction with a packeting machine.
