Abstract
205,876. Hall, S. July 25, 1922. Axles and axle structures.-Spring devices of the kind described in Specifications 19460/95 and 13919/97, [both in Class 136, Velocipedes], 11883/06; and 174,755, [Class 79 (v), Motor vehicles, Steering &c.], are applied to the axles of motor-vehicles and velocipedes having a " live " axle drive. The axle casing may be in one piece but preferably comprises a central differential housing L and two side extensions A carrying brackets C mounted on the wheel spindles E, through axle-boxes D and the aforesaid spring devices. The usual springs B be. tween the axle and frame are provided. The live axle G is provided with universal or flexible joints G<2>, and the axle casings A are oval-shaped at their outer ends 0 to permit the vertical movements of the wheel-spindles and the shafts G in the casings.
