Abstract

24,971. Garde, H. Oct. 31. Candles, imitation. - A candle lamp in which the candle-tube and the lamp-holder are adjustable is provided with a bayonet plug 3 adapted to engage a holder in a sconce 1. One contact 4 of the plug is connected to a central bolt 7 which is threaded for the reception of an adjustable metal rod 9 carrying a lamp-holder 12 and connected to one plunger 16; the other contact 5 being connected to a metal sleeve 8 which engages a metal ring 14 connected bv an embedded conductor 15 to the other plunger 16. The conductor 15 and the ring 14 are carried by an insulating-sleeve 13 which covers the rod 9 and is secured by an insulating-nut 18 so as to be slidable within the sleeve 8; the sleeve 8 is similarly covered by an insulating - sleeve 19 fixed by an insulating- nut 21. A support for the opal or other tube consists of a flanged sleeve 22 adapted to compress a spring 24 surrounding the sleeve 19, when the rod 9 is screwed down to clamp the tube between the bulb and the sleeve 22. The sleeve 22 may have a web 27 for engaging a groove in the plug and preventing rotation of the sleeve. The nut 21 prevents complete removal of the sleeve 22. In a modification, the sleeve 22 may be provided with means for holding candle tubes of different diameters, the means specificed being an expanding device, or a flange on the base of the sleeve provided with a number of concentric circular grooves. According to the Provisional Specification, the adjustment for the lamp-holder may be telescopic.
