Abstract

19,223. Read, W. G. Aug. 22. Driving-gear for endless-chain conveyers and elevators.-A driving-sprocket for endless-chain conveyers and elevators comprises a member b to which is pivoted a number of drag links C. The drag links carry pivoted parts c adapted to engage the wheels of the chains and are provided with rollers c' running on a cam E, whereby the links are projected and withdrawn as they engage and disengage from the chain. The links are normally retracted by spring- controlled rods d<1>. In a modification, the pair of sprockets on the shaft b<0> are connected by extending the axles c<3> of the rollers c<4> from one sprocket to the other. Symmetrical arrangements of radially-acting springs connected to the axles c<3> are described for retracting the drag links.
