Abstract

1331. Berthold, H., and Berthold, A. Jan. 18. Deflation of tyres, indicating.-The pressure in each pneumatic tyre is indicated on a gauge on the dash-board of the car. When a tyre becomes deflated, the corresponding gauge pointer completes an electric circuit so that a lamp is lit, a bell is rung, and a magnet is energized which breaks the ignition circuit and thus stops the motor. A closed flexible ring a in the hub of the wheel communicates through a pipe c with the tyre, and contacts with a spring-pressed roller f carried on the body of the car. As the roller moves according to the pressure in the ring a, and therefore in the tyre, it alters the pressure correspondingly in an air-bag i, which communicates with an ordinary pressure gauge.
