Abstract
21,469. Electric and Ordnance Accessories Co., and Morrison, J. D. Sept. 15. Resistances.-Heating - elements consisting of wire or ribbon wound upon a flat strip of refractory insulating - material have their ends clamped in sheet-metal bindings forming terminals. The elements are mounted in spring clips, Fig. 3, the tongues 14 of the clips overlapping the shank portions 15, which are clenched round the bars 16 of a frame, as shown. The heating-element shown in Fig. 8 and in section in Fig. 9, consists of wire wound on a mica strip 2, with wider strips 4, 6 at the back and front; the strip 6 does not extend to the ends, which are bound with sheet-metal terminals 5, as shown in section in Fig. 10, the remainder of the element being bound in a metal sheath 7. The elements may all be connected in parallel, or one of the bars of the frame may be formed in insulated sections to connect groups of elements in series.
