Abstract

199,714. Albert (nÚe Marchand), R. M., and Savona, R. P. June 20, 1922, [Convention date]. Saddles are supported on a quadrilateral linkwork having springs which come into action in succession and resilient means for opposing the rebound. The members A to which the saddle is secured, and the supports B, which may be made of sheet iron or steel wire, are connected by two pivoted links D and a link C. A spring E connects an extension of the support B to a bolt K which is adjustable in slots c so that the members C, D lie in planes passing through the point of contact of the front wheel with the ground when the saddle is loaded. The spring E encloses one or more reverse-pitch springs of shorter length successively to take the load and there may be several sets of springs. The springs may be round or oval. Springs H take the rebound, but to deaden it a pawl may be provided on the link C which engages notches on washers b<1> which are held against the inner sides of the members B by a spring. Springs fixed at one end to the members B and adjustable at the other end on bell-crank levers attached to the members D are also shown diagrammatically.' The links C and D may also be of variable length and the link C may be connected to the members B by a spring. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises the use of leaf springs which are fixed to the members B. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
