Abstract

199,500. Taggart, W. Scott-. March 30, 1922. Openers, cleaners, &c.-In a machine in which the cotton &c. is passed from side to side of a casing and treated by a rotary beater, the space provided for the treatment of the material gradually diminishes from the feed end to the exit. The enclosure K in which the beater A rotates may be in the form of an oblique cone as shown, the material being fed in through an opening L and passing out at M. The beater may be conical in form, with its small end at the feed end of the casing, the upper portion of the casing being cylindrical in form, and the lower part conforming to the shape of the beater. Suction may be applied through the rotary cages at the exit end or a current of air may be supplied near the entrance L to assist the material to pass through the machine.
