Abstract
182,430. Dietrich, F. June 27, 1921, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Hopper wagons.-In a hopper wagon in which the movable bottom is held by claws on a laterally turnable side wall operated by means of a connecting-rod and crank, the operation of the crank is effected by means of a tipping lever mounted on the crank-spindle in a rotatable and laterally movable manner and carrying a stoplug adapted to engage under the crank. On the rotatable spindle c is keyed a crank p and a cam m having a projection m<1>, between which is loosely mounted a tipping lever b provided on one side with a stop-lug g to engage with the crank p and on the other with a pawl h, to engage with the projection m<1> on the cam m, both pawl and lug being fixed on a loosely fitting bolt e passing through the tipping lever. In tipping, the lever b is raised off the stop a, Fig. 1, and lowered and moved laterally on the spindle to permit of the lug g engaging the underside of the crank p; the lever is then raised, turning the crank p clockwise to open the door r. In closing the doors, the pawl h on the other side of the lever engages the projection m<1> on the cam m so that when the lever is revolved, the cam, and with it the crank p, are turned back into the closed position. A toe t is provided on the tipping lever which engages a bracket u on the connecting-rod q prior to the engagement of the lever b with its stop a so that the lever has to be sprung on to its stop a thereby locking the crank p and .connecting-rod q in their closed positions.
