Abstract

189,070. Chapman, W. A. June 14, 1922. Saws.-A hack-saw frame comprises a back of channel section provided with a row of holes to receive the pivot or pivots of one or a pair of arms carrying the saw blade, the arms being adjustable about their pivots to tension the saw-blade by bolts hooked through the holes in the back and engaging in slots in the arms. The back consists of a bar A, Fig. 2, with a channel at each end on opposite sides, and provided with holes O which receive the pivot bolts C of two saw-blade carrying arms B<1>, B<2>. The perforated bar is also adapted to receive the hooked ends of bladetensioning bolts F passing through slots D in the arms and provided with fly-nuts K and convex washers E. The saw blade may be hung on side pins 4 as shown, or on bottom pins 3. Handles B H are formed on the arms B<1>, B<2>. In a modification, an arm B, Fig. 4, without a handle, is employed, the back A being of L- shaped form and provided with a handle A H an extension of which carries one end of the saw blade. A further form is similar to that shown in Fig. 4, but the handle is formed on the arm B instead of on the back A. In another form a detachable handle AH, Fig. 9, is clamped to the end of the back A or to a straight extension piece or the handle may be clamped to the angle of the back.
