Abstract

Casings. - A metal casing for gas or oil fired metal-treating furnaces comprises corner standards 10, a bottom plate 14 adapted to engage the standards and to rest on stops thereon, wall plates 17, and a top plate, which is an inverted facsimile of the bottom plate. The standards are of circular section, and are formed with slots s ending at shoulders 12, on which the bottom plate rests. This plate has corner bosses 15 shaped to fit over the standards, and flanges 14a for retaining the wall plates in position. The slots in the standards also accommodate the vertical edges of the wall plates. In a modification the stop is formed by a pin passing through the column, and in this case two of the wall plates are shaped to fit against the standards for a quarter of their circumference.
