Abstract

168,758. Worthington, J. July 30, 1920. Sand screens; groins. -A groin or sand-screen for causing the deposit of wind- or water-borne sand for sea defence works consists of two wooden frames D, D covered with wire netting and hinged together as shown. The frames are held at an angle of 45‹ to the horizontal by tie-rods C and may rest on posts A let into concrete blocks. The Provisional Specification states that extra widths of netting may be added as the deposit increases, and that the works may be faced with concrete when filled to the required level.
