Abstract
1536162 Valves B F GOODRICH CO 7 April 1976 [11 April 1975] 14110/76 Heading F2V A valve member 26, comprising two cylindrical piston portions 27, 29 connected by a rigid cylindrical member 40, slides in a cylindrical bore 24 between a high pressure chamber 23 and a low pressure chamber 21, an 0-ring 32 housed in an annular recess 31 in the bore 24 being engaged by the piston portion 29 in the closed position and by a grooved portion of the member in the open position when the grooves provide communication between the high and low pressure chambers, the grooves extending to a depth of from 25% to 40% of the diameter of the member 40 and occupying from 50% to 75% of its surface area. A spring 35 biases the valve member 26 towards the open position against the action of a trigger mechanism 12 which serves to hold the member 26 in the closed position until it is operated.
