Abstract

1534712 Dynamo-electric machines GILLETTE CO 20 April 1976 [2 May 1975] 18361/75 Heading H2A In order to reduce the dimensions of an electric dry shaver a frame 6 of the shaver is moulded in situ around a hollow cylindrical part 2 of the stator of the driving motor, the frame supporting the cutting head, the motor and an electric circuit 31 for the motor. As shown, the flux return member 2 is embedded in the frame 6, the total width of the shaver in the direction transverse to the motor axis being less than 110% of the width of the motor in the same direction. The flux return member 2 may extend to the surface of the frame 6, Fig. 3 (not shown). The return member may have opposed flats 2a, Fig. 4 (not shown) in the direction transverse to the rotor axis. The rotor 5 rotates in the space between the flux return member and an internal permanent magnet 3 also carried by the frame 6. The frame, which also carries a printed circuit board 31, may form the external surface of the shaver. Alternatively, the shaver may have a thin casing 44, Fig. 10 (not shown) surrounding the frame. The frame may be of injection moulded plastics material or of metallic alloy.
