Abstract

1534463 Automatic control of smoke density IPSEN INDUSTRIES INTERNATIONAL GmbH 8 Aug 1977 [12 Aug 1976] 33107/77 Heading G3R [Also in Division C7] Carburization of parts in a vacuum furnace is controlled by introducing a hydrocarbon gas into the furnace through a valve 15 to form a soot cloud 9 which is detected by optical sensing means 3 which stops the hydrocarbon gas flow until the soot cloud has dispersed, whereupon the sensing means 3 actuates the valve 15 to permit the supply of gas to be resumed.
