Abstract
1533680 Inverters H MAIHAK AG 7 Feb 1977 04990/77 Heading H2F A transistor inverter 10 feeding a flameproof and/or explosion proof A.C. motor 5 is made intrinsically safe by the connection of two diodes 8, 9, across the inverter input which is connected to an intrinsically safe supply, the diodes being poled so as not to conduct the D.C. supply to the inverter, but to pass currents fed from energy stored in the motor inductance so that if any conductors are broken no dangerous sparking will result. A diode 7 protects against an inversely poled supply. The inverter and motor may be encapsulated in synthetic resin to form a single unit.
