Abstract
1533262 Asbestos-filled plastics DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc 13 Oct 1975 [11 Oct 1974] 41880/75 Headings C3B and C3K [Also in Divisions C1 C5 and E1] Additives for polymers comprise chrysotile asbestos the surface octahedral metal oxide layer of which has been removed leaving the underlying octahedral layers intact, coated with a layer of organo-silane bonded to the mineral by O-Si bonds. Exemplified applications are as additive to nitrile elastomers (Ex. 10) and to epoxy and polyester resins (Ex. 11). Other polymer bases specified are urethane, phenolic, olefine, acrylate and vinyl polymers and resins, elastomers, and sulphur- and peroxide-cured elastomer systems.
