Abstract

1533056 Preset tuning arrangements; position encoders S P RADIO AS 5 Nov 1976 [5 Nov 1975] 46119/76 Headings H3Q and H3H In a coding member for programming radio communication apparatus of the type in which the frequency selected is synthesized using a programmable frequency divider with a dividing figure N selectable by a plurality of contacts (16, Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) and in which there is an indexing mechanism 3 for selectively setting the coding member I in a number of positions corresponding to communication channels, the coding member 1 comprises a substrate having at each of at least some intersections between notional columns and rows corresponding to respective contacts a projection 7 for actuating a corresponding contact, at at least some of the other intersections there are holes 6 in the substrate and at at least some of the intersections there are neither projections or holes. The holes 6 are threaded to allow insertion of additional screw projections. The coding switch may include a brass disc 1 cooperating with phosphorus bronze contacts (15, 16). Instead of the rotary coding member 1 it may be a rectangular plate sliding linearly or may be a cylinder.
