1532198 Selective printing PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 March 1977 [1 April 1976] 13125/77 Heading B6F A printer has at least one hammer 4 carrying a coil able to be energized by a variable current and a device (cam disc 15) to adjust the distance between a character bearing roll 1 and the hammer(s) in their non-actuated position. A control 20-27 increases/decreases both the said distance and the coil current in response to deviations from a nominal hammer flight time thereby ensuring a constant flight time regardless of the thickness of paper 3.
