Abstract
1531287 Forming glass melts for fibres OWENSCORNING FIBERGLAS CORP 21 May 1976 21128/76 Addition to 1508167 Heading C1M Glass fibres consisting of:- an< are made by forming a first melt consisting of:- SiO 2 50-70%, Al 2 O 3 5-20%, CaO 5-30%, Na 2 O 0-10% and Fe 2 O 3 0-2% mixing therewith a melt consisting of:- SiO 2 0-20%, B 2 O 3 40-90%, F 2 0-10%, Na 2 O 0-10%, Al 2 O 3 0-20%, CaO 0-50%, MgO 0-10%, TiO 2 0-10%, Fe 2 O 3 0-2% and residual oxides of the form RO + R 2 O 3 (e.g. of alkaline earth metals or transition elements not otherwise specified (such as Sr + Cr) 0-5%, homogenizing the melt and then forming it into fibres. The process may be carried out as disclosed in the parent Specification to which a disclaimer is inserted in the present Specification.
