Polymer (2) improves the efficiency of the recovery process. The starting polymers are (1) natural rubber or a polymer of isoprene or butadiene, and (2) polybutadiene, a partially chlorinated polybutadiene or a butadiene copolymer. The example refers to the chlorination of a mixture of degraded cis-1,4-polyisoprene and a butadiene/α-methylstyrene copolymer in carbontetrachloride, followed by precipitation in hot water.
