Abstract
1528574 Radiography EMI Ltd 27 Oct 1975 [29 Oct 1974] 46700/74 Heading H4F A radiological examination apparatus for examining a body 1 by causing a divergent or scanned beam of X-rays or gamma rays from a source 2 to traverse the body through a plurality of parallel planar slices, either simultaneously or in succession, is provided for each slice with a collimator 7 with an array of passages in the plane of the slice, each passage having a scintillator 4 and each group of scintillators having at least one channel photomultiplier 5 to derive electrical signals representing absorption of the radiation in passing through the slice, the whole apparatus being rotatable about an axis 6 perpendicular to the slices to permit irradiation from different source positions. Figs. 2a and 2b (neither shown) show a collimator with two associated photomultipliers the passages of half of the collimator being lengthened to provide space for both photomultipliers.
