Abstract

1528094 Preparation of filled rubber-modified thermoplastic UNITED STERLING CORP Ltd 23 May 1977 [25 Feb 1976] 07532/76 Heading C3L In the preparation of filled high-impact materials the dispersion of the filler is enhanced by inclusion thereof as a dispersion in the initial rubber-monomer solution, which is subsequently converted in a vessel to the conventional prepolymer stage of discrete rubber-monomer-filler phase in a continuous monomer-polymer phase, followed by final completion of polymerization after withdrawal from the vessel, e.g. in bulk or in aqueous suspension. Detailed techniques for forming the initial dispersion and the prepolymer mixture are given.
