Abstract
1525562 Television HAWKER SIDDELEY AVIATION Ltd 19 Aug 1975 [30 Aug 1974] 38088/74 Heading H4F Image pick-up target comprising an array of radiation sensitive elements 16 with insensitive interelement separation areas 17, has an optical member 18 placed in front of it which comprises an array of optical segments in one-to-one correspondence with the sensitive elements 16 each arranged to focus incident radiation falling on all of the target area associated with a respective sensitive element on to that sensitive element area 16, thus all of the incident radiation from a viewed scene is converted into an output video signal. As shown the optical member may have prismatic V-grooves in its face remote from the elements 16 (grooved in orthogonal directions for a two-dimensional array of elements 16), or alternatively the optical member may comprise an array of spherical lens elements (Fig, 3, not shown). The optical member may comprise the substrate for semiconductor material forming the target elements e.g. the silicon diode array of a television camera, or a CCD array.
