Abstract

1514725 Hypodermic needle assemblies EVERETT MEDICAL PRODUCTS Ltd 10 May 1976 [23 May 1975] 23023/75 Heading A5R A hypodermic needle assembly comprises a hub 13 for attachment to a syringe and having a projecting detent 21 which is a snap fit within a recess 16 in a resilient protective sheath 10 covering the needle and hub, the sheath being removable by axial movement to snap the detent from the recess, and the sheath and hub having meshing projections 25, 26 respectively to prevent relative rotation between the sheath and the hub. The recess may be an annular recess and the detent may comprise a localised projection, two opposed projections or an annular projection. The hub may taper towards the shank of the needle, the detent(s) being provided at the widest part of the hub. A removable closure e.g. a cap or plug or a peelable lid, may be provided for the open end of the sheath.
