Abstract
1509355 Coagulating devices RICHARD WOLF GmbH 30 April 1976 [3 May 1975 7 June 1975] 17803/76 Heading A5R A bipolar high - frequency coagulation forceps, Fig. 1, for the coagulation of the fallopian tubes comprises two current conductors 2, 3 affording a pair of resiliently spreading forceps arms 6, an actuating sleeve 13 for opening and closing said arms, the portons of each forceps arm extending distally of its free end having insulation 4, 5 and an outwardly convex curved portion 6a for contact with sleeve 13 to facilitate opening and closing of arms 6, an uninsulated outwardly convex curved portion 7 for clamping around a fallopion tube and a straight uninsulated portion 8 for compressing the mescsalpinx. The conductors 2, 3 are mounted in a bushing tube 1 which extends through sleeve 13. A scissors grip operating handle 15 has one limb 14a secured to sleeve 13 by means of a bush 33 and retainer 34. The other limb 14b of the scissors grip is connected to an outer support barrel 17 by means of a pin 20 and to bushing tube 1 by means of a strut 21 extending longitudinally between pin 20 and a cylindrical housing 23 which includes a movable plunger 24 having protrusions 29 for engaging recesses 30 in bushing tube 1; whereby pressure on button 24a of plunger 24 disengages protrusions 28 from recesses 30 to allow removal of the bushing tube 1 from the sleeve 13 for cleaning or sterilization. A plug 9 and plug bushing 10 are provided for connection of an electrical source (not shown) to a respective conduotor 2 or 3. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 6, the end portion 8 of one of the forceps arms 6 is provided with a bent - over portion 8a to prevent a fallopian tube from slipping out when gripped for coagulation.
