Abstract
1507458 Bulk wave transducers GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 30 Oct 1975 [5 Dec 1974] 52637/74 Heading H3U A bulk wave transducer arrangement, on an acoustic wave propagating medium 1, comprises a plurality of series-connected transducers each being formed by a first conductive layer 3, 4 or 5 on medium 1, a piezoelectric layer 7, and a second conductive layer 8 on the piezoelectric layer, the first and second conductive layers of adjacent transducers being interconnected, the arrangement being such that successive transducers in the series produce waves out of phase with each other. As shown, the layer 7 is common to all the twentythree transducers, and the interconnected layers of adjacent transducers and the respective interconnection are constituted by a single conductive area. The medium 1 may be of magnesium aluminate spinel and constitutes a delay line; the twenty-three waves may be reflected in the medium to return to the transducer arrangement which may thus constitute both input and output ports; alternatively there may be provided a second transducer arrangement with the same phase relation between adjacent transducers.
