Abstract
1504076 Making finned tubes; rolling tubes BALCKE-DURR AG 22 June 1976 [31 July 1975] 25856/76 Headings B3E B3A and B3M To prevent strip being wound on edge on to a tube from unwinding, e.g. at the end of winding, or upon strip breakage, or when removing an intermediate portion of wound strip, the tube is provided with one or more flattened tracks H prior to winding of the strip under tension. Apparatus for forming four axial tracks (intermittent if required) on tube R, and located upstream of the coiler, is shown in Fig. 1, and comprises a sleeve 4 rotatably mounted in stand 2 and supporting four levers 5 on pins 6, each lever having at one end a track forming roll 7 and at the other end an adjustable screw 9 bearing on a tapered formation 10a on a bushing 10 slidable within sleeve 4. The bushing is movable axially by fluid pressure cylinder 17 through lever 14 and bearing 12 to apply or release the rolls 7. Positive release is effected by springs 4b. The tube is fed and rotated by the coiler, and the sleeve, rolls, and bushing rotate with the tube.
