Abstract

1502438 Supporting hot tars in ingot moulds J B LABATE 1 Aug 1975 32272/75 Addition to 1487106 Heading B3F [Also in Division E2] Consumable side boards S are held in position in a mould M by means of an expendible clip which, when an ingot is cast in the mould becomes incorporated in the solid ingot. The clip is formed from a metal rod 10 having a U-shaped offset portion 11 at a position away from its ends. Resilient end-pieces 12 located on each end have spikes 13 extending perpendicularly to the rod 10 and serrations 15 pointing outwards. Parts 14 of the endpieces are resilient and urge opposite boards against the mould whilst spikes 13 hold the board at right angles to those.
