Abstract
1500594 Solid lubricants J W AIDLIN 1 Aug 1975 32244/75 Heading C5F [Also in Divisions B2 C2 and C3] A composition, which can form a lubricating coating on a surface, comprises the reaction product of a halide of aluminium, titanium or boron and a fluoroalkyl arylamine, the fluoroalkyl group containing at least three fluorine atoms. The fluoroalkyl arylamine may be of formula where n is 0 or 1-4, m is 1 or 2 and R is H, C 1-9 alkyl, C 1-8 hydroxyalkyl, aryl or aralkyl. The halide may be a fluoride of Al or Ti. In examples, a "fluoro-boro substituted hydrocarbon polymer" product is obtained by reacting α,α,α-trifluoro-mtoluidine with (C 2 H 5 ) 2 O.BF 3 , BBr 3 or BI 3 either alone or in the presence of a diluent such as Cl 2 C = CCl 2 , Cl 2 C = CHCl or CCl 4 . The composition may be coated on a steel tube, titanium cylinder, a surface of Al, Sn, Cu, Zn, Cr, Fe or an alloy thereof, or on wood, paper, plastics or ceramics.
