Abstract

1436091 Endless conveyers GLACIER INDUSTRIES Inc 15 Jan 1974 [17 Jan 1973] 1912/74 Heading B8A [Also in Division F4] An endless conveyer 4 for transporting articles 24 through a freezing chamber 2 (see Division F4) comprises plates 26 secured to an endless chain 86 which, within the chamber, is guided along a downwardly spiralling path 40 and then along an upwardly spiralling path 42 before passing out of the chamber and around driving and idler sprockets 8, 10. The plates 26 are supported on phenolic wear strips 90 and the chain engages a guide rail 101. The wear strips 90 are mounted on brackets 122 provided with deflectors 94, 96 for directing the transverse flow of cold air against the underside of the plates 26. Within the chamber, idler sprockets 62 on shafts 44, 46, 48, 50 reverse the direction of the chain and the sprocket 100 above the sprockets 62 on the shaft 44 is mounted separately in a support 118 on a beam 102. The beam 102 forms part of a parallelogram linkage 102, 104, 106, 108 acted on by a spring 114 for tensioning the chain 86.
