Abstract
1433965 Apparatus for closing box flap A MARCHETTI 11 April 1974 16267/74 Heading B8C A device for closing the front top flaps 15 of boxes 14 comprises a roller conveyer 1 over which boxes are moved by driven side belts 3, a parallelogram linkage 7 comprising a bottom horizontal link 9 pivotally connected to a fixed upper horizontal link 8 by further links 10 and 11, and a rigid rod 13 pivoted at its ends to the upper link 8 and to an arm 12 which is pivoted to the bottom link 9. The upper link 8 is fixed to a support 6 adjustably fixed to two columns 4 and 5. In operation as a box 14 approaches the linkage 7, the front flap 15 is cammed upwardly towards its closed position by the pivoted arm 12 which is rotated to fold the flap 15 further when the front wall 16 of the box engages and displaces the bottom link 9 which rises and passes over the front wall to complete the folding of the flap 15.
