Abstract
1433455 Preparation of phenol compounds OLIN CORP 29 March 1974 [30 April 1973] 14128/74 Heading C2C The invention relates to a method for preparing phenol compounds which comprises: (a) diazotizing an aminobenzene compound of formula wherein R represents halogen, -CF 3 , C 1-4 alkyl and -NO 2 group; in an aqueous medium in the presence of sodium nitrite and phosphoric acid to form a reaction mixture containing the diazonium salt of the aminobenzene compound, and (b) heating the said reaction mixture to decompose said diazonium salt to the corresponding phenol compound. The example describes the preparation of o-fluorophenol.
